WOW our tech beginnings are so very similar!
Right around the first boom I was working at a local ISP in GA and designing websites for tiny local businesses. I was also creating a local music website for Jacksonville, FL. A total labor of love that was perhaps a little ahead of it's time for that area. It never took off, mostly because I decided to quit the ISP to become a full-time web designer and drove cross country to CA nonstop for 2 days with no job secured. One of the scariest and best things I've ever done in my life. I've never looked back since.

It would be neat to have a book of short stories detailing how people got here and why. Did you find a job on Craigslist too?
